 Activity 2: Setting Sail
On your blog, write a short letter to a friend telling them about your voyage to New Zealand. In the letter be sure to tell them how you feel about moving to a new country. If it was me, I would have felt really nervous…

    Hey again Patience, thank you for writing a letter to your friend Jenifer, pretending to be one of the first travellers to New Zealand. I like how you've added detail to your writing, mentioning the scary shark with their big sharp teeth, and how they surrounded the waka. There would have been lots of times on the journey that the travellers were scared. Imagine if there were huge waves or stormy weather!

    What do you think the first travellers did as soon as they arrived in New Zealand?

    I think that first travellers went looking around for something new to discover, like birds, trees, flowers and mammals. At least, that is what I would do.

      Hey Patience, what an interesting thought. Do you think they would have tried to set up a camp? A fireplace to cook food? Somewhere to sleep? Some traps to catch animals perhaps?
