My Typing speed test

Learning goal-I am practicing my typing so I can be quicker and more accurate.
Success criteria-This will help me finish my work faster.

Friday


Today

On Friday I got 40 WPM and Today I got 36 WPM. I was a little bit slower today instead of Friday. But I still need to work on my typing. A learning site that I go on is Typing.com, and it has helped me be a little more accurate in typing.

My Basic facts test

Learning goal-I am testing how quickly I can remember my Basic Facts.
Success criteria-I need to remember my Basic Facts because they are the knowledge I need to help me with strategies to solve Maths problems.

Today

On Friday I got 46\60 and today I got 45\60. I only have one answer wrong in my score today and not Friday. But I still need to work on, Groupings within 10, Subtraction to 20 and maybe Addition to 20.

My Basic facts test

Learning goal-I am testing how quickly I can remember my Basic Facts.
Success criteria-I need to remember my Basic Facts because they are the knowledge I need to help me with strategies to solve Maths problems.

Friday

On Monday I got 39\60 and today I got 46\60 for my timed. I got a higher score today because I learned some of my facts when my teacher gave me tuttering. But I got a low score today because did not learn and know my facts. The blocks of knowledge that I am improving on and need work on are Groupings within 100 and my Division facts.

My Silent reading today

Today I read from page 89-100, and this a short summery of what happend so far.

Mum was not sure about me doing weight training, but I did it anyway.
I knew i needed a spotting partner, so I called Rowley over.
We started our training, i made rowley go first only cause i wanted to see if the broom stick would hold on the milk carterns.

Wednesday  
Today we had Geography class we did a test, and in the test we had to name State capitals. Luckily I sat right at the back of the class room where the map was. Just before we started our test Patty Ferrell pointed out and told the teacher to cover the map up so he couldn't see.

Thursday
Mum found a piece of paper on the dinner table and she came to my room, when i saw it i new exactly what is was. Mum was going to force me to do a part in the school plays. This year we played the movie The wizard of oz, I haven't seen the movie, so the teacher showed us the movie.

What animal is like me?










Facts about this animal:

  • This animal eats plants and other animals, these are called omnivores.
  • This animal stays together with it’s family because it is safer.
  • They use their great sense of smell to get their food.
  • They eat scorpions, fruit, insects, tiny rodents, birds, and lizards.
  • This animal lives in South Africa.
  • On each of a meerkats foot it has four toes.
  • Their predators are owls, eagles and wild cats.
  • Their habitat is called a burro.

I chose to be a Meerkat because I have a lot of things in common with this animal.

The meerkat and I like being together in a large family as it makes us feel safer.

The meerkat gets angry sometimes just like me. I shout at my friends and it hurts their ears.

I eat edible plants and meat and the meerkat eats plants and other animals.

A meerkat has a long tail and and I have long hair.

I practise training for my cross country and the baby meerkats practise training to defend themselves from predators.

Baby meerkats don’t like to share food and I don’t like to share my food with others because I will have nothing left.

Meerkats have 4 sharp teeth and I have 2 sharp teeth at the bottom 2 sharp teeth at the top.




     
In my class we are doing zentangle art. A zentangle is a picture with a hand and has doodles. But we do doodles that match our animal.

 In what's my number I did not find anything hard because I got use to doing the activity's in what's my number.

MONDAY

FRIDAY(today)


On Monday I got 32 WPM and today I got 34 WPM. I got a higher score today because I and getting use to where the letters on my key bored are. On Monday I did get a high score but I was only 2 steps away from 34 WPM.

MONDAY

FRIDAY(today)

On Monday I got 39\60 and today I got 44\60. I got a higher score today because I wasn't disturbed by anyone and the class was not talking.

Last night my teacher got me to do family of facts for division and multiplication, and then she got me to do family of facts for addition and subtraction, and I got them all right for subtraction and addition, and she never taught me or the class.

I got a lower score on Monday because I did not know most of my facts in different blocks of knowledge.

My Silent reading today

Today I read from page 115 to page 159, and this is what happend.

Colette pulled out a pink note pad and wrote down what Princess Lane Ratlord favourite things to do when she wasn't at the castle. The Thea sister's gathered together and to figure out which place or thing they should do first so they could find the Princess. First they went roller skating, they didn't have any roller skates so they rented them from a store. They skated all around the park but they couldn't spot the Princess. Then they bought some tickets to a football game, then Nicky spotted a girl who looked just like the Princess, Nicky told the sisters and they ran to her. When the Princess saw them she started running away. Then Nicky caught her and she told the Thea sisters why she ran away, they walked to the car park and Pamela noticed someone watching them, she looked back and the man started running along with the sisters. She caught the man and he told the sisters who he was, why he was following them and who stole the movie tape. The Princess took the sisters to the Premiere of a mouseterpiece. Princess Lane stayed for a few days at Jenna's house, and on the last day the man who followed them took her in a car and drove to the airport and went home.

My silent reading today


Today I read from page 48-69. This is a summery of what happend

Image result for diary of a wimpy kid Today the principle announced that student government elections are coming up. I use to not really like it but when I thought about it won't as bad as I thought it was. I told dad that I was running for student government, he told me that did too, and we actually won. He showed me one of his posters, I asked dad if we could go to the store and get some thing's so I can work on my posters. When we came home I worked all night trying to think of what should be on my poster. 
It is finally October and Halloween is coming up. Every year dad goes out and when some teenagers come out dad a bucket of water at them.

What's my number?

Learning goal-I am learning that numbers can be shown in many different ways
Success criteria-I can show in my presentation some of the different ways my number can be recorded.
My favourite way is making up a word problem.



In What's my number I only found one slide hard to do and that was "Word problem" because I always do a question that ends with "How many do I have altogether" and I wanted to try something different.

My recount writing: Matariki lights

Learning goal-We are learning to write a recount with a Title, clear introduction, middle and conclusion.
We are learning to write a recount using our personal voice. 
Success criteria-I can write a recount with the correct structure, with paragraphs and using descriptive language.
I can write a recount using my personal voice.


MATARIKI LIGHTS

On Saturday I went to the Matariki light trail in Glen Innes. I went with my mum and two cousins Jenifer and Shanel. The weather was so cold, cold as a block of ice, so we all wore warm jackets and beanies.  When we first walked into the entrance the lights we're so bright that I was like a possum caught in headlights and the crowds were as busy as a bee hive.

At the Matariki light trail they also had different stalls. The one stall we liked sold light sticks but there were none left, and all they had left we're only light necklaces so we bought those instead. We did some pretty cool tricks with them. Jenifer, put it around her neck and spun it, it was like a spaceship coming into land. I did a similar thing to Jenifer, but I did it with my arm spinning and jumped up and down like a bouncy ball.

We decided to get something to munch because I was SO hungry and chop suey did the trick. While we were eating we saw some of my Aunties, Uncles and cousin's.
I saw my friend Lydia from my dance class but she didn’t recognise me because of my beanie.

‘Time to walk the light trail’ my mum pointed out . So we did! It was as bright as the city of Las Vegas. We had to cross a bridge and on the bridge you could see glowing jellyfish.

We walked back to find a good spot to watch the fantastic fireworks. My favourite part was watching the fireworks. I liked the sounds.It was  like someone was talking into a microphone, a plane coming into land and all they whistling like at netball. When the fireworks finished we walked back to the car and when we looked down we had so much mud on our shoes I’m sure we left our own mud trail. I really had a fun night at the trail I hope I can do it again next year.

On Monday I got 38 WPM and today I got 31 WPM. I got a lower score today because my group was talking and I was trying to tell them to do their own learning. And I got a higher score on Monday Because know one disturbed me and the class was very quiet.

On Monday I got 41\60 and today I got 44\60, that means that I only got 3 more right. I did not get as a high score on Monday because I still need work on my Groupings within 10, Addition to 20 and my division facts





My quick write:Lights out

Learning goal- We are learning to write a recount with a Title, clear introduction, middle and conclusion. We are learning to write a recount using our personal voice.

LIGHTS OUT

When I stepped out of my car and walked towards school the power was out. I noticed this due to seeing all the office lights out.

When I walked into the corridor I felt nervous and scared. I was curios, questioning what would happen when I walked into class. Would everyone be scared?, were they doing something else?, were they getting ready to go home?
It was totally normal. Everyone was listening to Abs and Tom.

When the morning tea bell rang Mrs Middleton said that we could play with the box sets at the back of the classroom. While I was playing a game the power went out again. I freaked out, but just a little bit.

Then after a few minutes the lights came back on and the class got free time on our netbooks.

Light's out in my school was scary but fun. I hope it never happens again...except the free time part.
